Eduroam (eduroam.cr)

Eduroam (education roaming) is a secure wireless access service, developed for the international education and research community. This initiative allows students, researchers, and staff of participating institutions to access the Internet via wireless (wi-fi) not only within their institution but also when they visit other participating universities, colleges, research centers, and libraries. eduroam-cr is part of the global mobility space operated by European academic networks and TERENA (Trans-European Research and Education Networking Association) which cover Europe through eduroam Europe and extend to eduroam Canada, eduroam US, and eduroam APAN (Asia and Pacific). Because of the agreement signed by the Consejo Nacional de Rectores (CONARE) with the Telecommunications Superintendence (SUTEL), the Eduroam service joins the Connected Public Spaces program, through which free Internet access is provided to the population through 515 Wireless Internet Zones (Zii). Thus, students, researchers, academics, and administrative personnel of the state public universities are able to access the Eduroam service in all the Wireless Internet Zones distributed in 412 districts of the national territory, in addition to the points in which they already have access.
